Risk Factors
Breast cancer is a disease where many factors interact with
each other in ways that are still unknown. However, there
are several known factors that make some women more susceptible
to breast cancer than others. These factors are called risk
factors.
Presently, the most important factors for identifying
women at risk is age and family history. Unfortunately,
there is nothing that we can do about our age. However,
a careful look at the medical history of our family
combined with regular physical examinations and mammograms
is an effective means of detecting breast cancer early.
Early detection is a key factor in surviving breast
cancer.
