Reducing Your Risk
While there is no one behaviour that directly reduces
breast cancer risk, there are several lifestyle choices
associated with lower rates of breast cancer. Epidemiologists
can determine whether certain factors are associated
with higher incidences of disease through intercomparisons
of large groups of people.
General eating habits, specific food selections, exercise
and stress management have all been subjects of epidemiological
studies seeking to determine their relationship to breast
cancer rates. To date, research indicates a probable
or possible association of nutrition and exercise habits
with breast cancer. To date, stress has not been shown
to be related to the occurrence of breast cancer, but
reducing your stress level can certainly bolster your
immune system and improve your general health.
