Early Detection of Breast Cancer

Early detection of breast cancer depends on awareness of changes in breast tissue. Most often, breast cancers are discovered by women themselves when casual observation or formal breast self-exam reveals a lump. Sometimes lumps are discovered by physicians during annual check-ups. Ultrasound , mammography and other x-rays are imaging techniques used in conjunction with manual methods to screen for disease in healthy women and to diagnose cancer in women with breast problems.

While there is no known cure for cancer, early detection of breast cancer saves lives.
